The founder of Casa del Puerto was a Peace Corps volunteer in 1967. She established a special ongoing relationship with the Panamanian people in the Guarare area.
After a 38 year break, she returned to make her home in Panama to promote tourism and sustainable development. She has involved local villagers and artisans in tourism activities who will share their skills, traditions, and celebrations as they assist with your visit to Panama.
In 2009 she started a Foundation to empower local groups to preserve and promote the artisanry, crafts, and music that have historically made the community rich in culture. The Foundation also has guest rooms where you can enjoy peaceful tranquility and nature at a seaside villa with surrounding tropical gardens. Be sure to ask for more information about the Foundation and ways that you can volunteer or make a donation.
